Hi y’all! I’m Lelia (rhymes with “Amelia”). Lovely to meet you.

Lelia_About_1.jpg

I delight in working with people and organizations that want to lead with authenticity, connection, and compassion.

I’m a speaker.

Described as “the confidence fairy godmother we all need,” Fortune 500 companies and professional associations from across North America regularly hire me to support their teams. I’ve presented to an eclectic array of audiences including doctors, auto care workers, bartenders, international shipping experts, lawyers, and women in roofing.

In both my speeches and writing, I see myself as a storyteller and use personal vulnerability so we all feel less alone.

Through interactive programs we share those “real life” moments — the ones we all experience but don’t always talk about.

I’M A WRITER.

My book, You Got This: The Ultimate Negotiation Guide for Professional Women, provides a “fresh and instantly applicable” toolkit for anyone ready to develop their own authentic voice in negotiation.

I’m also regularly asked to share my perspective in articles for national publications like Huffington Post, Harper’s Bazaar, and NBCNews. Each week in my newsletter community, I share essays readers describe it as:

  • “A burst of joy”

  • “A breath of fresh air; feels like I'm in the middle of a real conversation with a friend who somehow knows exactly what I need to hear”

  • “An antidote to shame”

  • “A hug and a cup of tea in newsletter form”

MY CREDENTIALS
(Why you should trust me)

With a Master’s in Public Policy and a BA in Sociology, I apply my knowledge of political, professional, and cultural systems to help us understand ourselves and the world around us.

My personal journey with identity also informs how I approach authenticity. After hiding my sexual orientation for decades, I finally came out as queer at the ripe old age of 37.

I wrote a popular Huffington Post article about my experience, and the reaction to that piece solidified something I've seen again and again:

Our authenticity is medicine.

MY “WHY”

Audiences and readers alike tell me they feel “seen” after our time together.

My goal is to help us feel deeply connected to people whose stories might be different from our own — and to see ourselves in those same stories

As a New Orleans native and enthusiast, I freely use the word y’all in professional correspondence and have an entire closet dedicated to costuming.

My inbox is always open, whether you’d like to book me for a gig, hire me for a writing project, or just say hi. I’d love to hear from you!
